Position Summary
Assess needs: Identify clients' short-term and long-term needs, and social issues
Connect: Help clients access services like medical care, legal aid, and temporary housing, and refer them to other agencies
Support: Provide ongoing support to clients
Organize: Plan, organize, and conduct events, workshops, and discussion groups
Promote: Prepare exhibits and distribute materials to promote health and community services
Volunteer: Recruit, organize, lead, train, and educate volunteers
Collaborate: Work with community partners and third party agencies
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing outreach to stakeholders to identify issues
- Reaching out to community serving organizations to create education groups
- Providing education to clients and referring them to providers
- Identifying new sites to provide resources and materials
- Recruiting students for classes on health
Characteristics of an Ideal Candidate
Self-starter, Organized, Multi-tasker; able to balance, Comfort speaking with others, individually or in groups, Community engagement/outreach skills
Supervision
The supervisor assigns service activities in terms of project objectives and basic priorities and is available for consultation in resolving controversial issues.
Review
The service activities are reviewed for accuracy through spot checks, through complaints from customers, and through observation of the member at service.
Guidelines
Detailed guidelines exist, including regulations and directives, handbooks, precedents, industry standards, and files of previous projects
Complexity
The facts or conditions of the service position are clear cut, predictable, and apply directly to the assignment
