Why did you decide to join NHC?

I wanted to join NHC as I aspire to have a career in public health. With NHC, I can work at a Host Site that aligns with my aspirations and values and be welcomed into a community through AmeriCorps. I was excited to learn about the opportunities NHC provides, as I am taking a gap year before I go to graduate school.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

I hope to learn soft skills such as interacting with patients, and considering what communication styles are most effective as everyone has different lived experiences. I hope to learn hard skills like managing electronic medical record systems. I am also looking forward to the community aspect, such as the Food Pharmacy.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?

I am looking forward to participating in all NHC-related activities and training to make the most out of my service year. One of my goals is to take initiative, pitch projects, and create content for my host site. I look forward to meeting other NHC members, as we are all united by the goal of public health and service.
