Where are you from? Dekalb, Illinois

Why did you decide to join NHC?

National Health Corps stood out because of the practical experience it offered and opportunities for service in the community.  

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

I’m excited to gain practical experience understanding the barriers that keep populations and individuals from having access to healthcare and medical resources. Part of my role involves supporting refugee communities in North Chicago, and I want to learn what obstacles are specific to recent immigrant populations. 
 

What are you most looking forward to during your service term? 

One thing I’ve realized is that although I’ve lived near Chicago my whole life, I haven’t spent much time in Chicago itself. I’m looking forward to exploring the different neighborhoods and being immersed in city life.
