Are you a Student? If so, where and what are you studying?

I am currently taking Anatomy and Physiology II online as part of my preparation for graduate studies and plan to start learning Spanish this year to enhance my communication skills.

Why did you decide to join NHC?

I was eager to contribute to my community by helping enhance healthcare quality and expand access in medically underserved areas.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

I aim to deepen my understanding of the social determinants of health and their impact on health outcomes and disparities. As a Food Security Program Assistant, I look forward to exploring the effectiveness of blue zones and learning how to apply these insights to improve access to nutritious and affordable food in food deserts.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?

I am eager to engage with my community and connect with as many people as possible—both those I serve and those I work alongside. Learning from others and collaborating with a team dedicated to advancing health equity is incredibly important to me. As a future clinician, I believe the experiences and relationships I build during my service term will have a lasting, positive impact on my ability to serve this community in the future.
