Where are you from? 

Born and raised in San Antonio, TX!

Why did you decide to join NHC?

I decided to join NHC because it marries both my passions of promoting health equity and community service. I feel like so much meaningful work happens on the ground and NHC provides us with the unique opportunity to move to a new community to be in the service of others with hopes of imparting a positive change to their health and wellbeing. 

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

After spending so many years in school studying public health and health promotion, I’m hoping to gain the ability to practically put all that I have learned into action! It’s one thing to read about the different theories, another to write about different interventions, but something completely different to go into a community and try to apply it; and I am very grateful for the opportunity! 

What are you most looking forward to during your service term? 

Getting to work with my host site and interacting with the teens in my program! I have always loved participating in team sports so getting to share that with the girls in my program is super exciting :)
